Terra Incognita Gallery Opening

I have recently had the pleasure of discovering some terrific books related to art. They all have completely different functions and audiences but I’ve loved them all.
Today’s terrific book is Drawing for the Artistically Undiscovered by Quetin Blake and John Cassisdy. It is aimed at kids, it’s a Klutz edition and my kids do love it. It starts off with fun easy stuff like smoke and rabbit ears (Blake provides things that smoke and earless bunnies) and advances to perspective and facial expressions.
It has made my eleven year old see things and draw them in a new way. He drew a cow the other day that blew my mind. I don’t think he would ever have attempted it without this book getting him going.
My eight year old loved his brother’s book so much he wanted one for his birthday. He is goal oriented and finished it in about a week. I wish there were more for him to continue.
So if you know a kid who likes to draw, or one that doesn’t, this is a great book. But don’t limit it to kids, if you’d like to draw and think you can’t, try this terrific book. You may not become da Vinci but your doodles will look awsome.
